ABS is one of the world's leading ship classification societies. The primary purpose of ABS is to determine the structural and mechanical fitness of ships and other marine structures for their intended purpose. It does this through a procedure known as classification. ABS establishes and administers standards, known as Rules, for the design, construction, and operational maintenance of marine vessels and structures.

- Registro Italiano Navale
RINA is a private, non-profit making institution, established in Genova by a group of shipowners and underwriters in 1861 and one of the oldest classification societies in the world. RINA provides assessment, inspection, certification and research activities in accordance with national, EU and international laws relevant to materials, projects, technologies, products and installations, including the performance of work commissioned by Public Administrations and other Authorities.
- International Maritime Organisation
IMO is a specialized agency of the United Nations which is responsible for measures to improve the safety of international shipping and to prevent marine pollution from ships. It also is involved in legal matters, including liability and compensation issues and the facilitation of international maritime traffic. It was established by means of a Convention adopted under the auspices of the United Nations in Geneva on 17 March 1948 and met for the first time in January 1959. It currently has 164 Member States. IMO's governing body is the Assembly which is made up of all 164 Member States and meets normally once every two years. It adopts the budget for the next biennium together with technical resolutions and recommendations prepared by subsidiary bodies during the previous two years. The Council acts as governing body in between Assembly sessions. It prepares the budget and work programme for the Assembly. The main technical work is carried out by the Maritime Safety, Marine Environment Protection, Legal, Technical Co-operation and Facilitation Committees and a number of sub-committees.
- The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (UK)
MCGA manage the UK Shipping Register and their technical surveying staff undertake regular, detailed surveys of UK ships. The UK Shipping Register has increased in size by around 150% since April 1998, reversing decades of decline. MCGA work with their shipping customers to ensure that safety standards are maintained. They also inspect foreign registered ships visiting UK ports and can detain unsafe ships.
- Sjøfartsdirektoratet (Norwegian Maritime Directorate)
NMD is responsible for all public control of Norwegian ships and is also required to inspect 25 per cent of all foreign-flagged ships calling at Norwegian ports in any year. The agency is responsible for the development and administration of all legislation for the safety and environmental aspects of shipping. Norway puts much emphasis on international cooperation on marine safety, protection of the marine environment and seafarers' working and living conditions, and the NMD works to achieve its goals and objectives through the International Maritime Organization and the International Labour Organization and by influencing the European Union.
- BAS Engineering
BAS Engineering is a Norwegian company that develops and markets a program called ShipWeight. ShipWeight can be used for estimation of weight and center of gravity for all types of vessels in the design phase, as well as for weight monitoring and follow-up activities during the building process. The program outputs a weight file that can be imported into Tribon Calc.
