XSection - a File Conversion Utility

XSection is a utility program to convert Tribon Britfair files to GHS or SHCP files and visa versa. The program is free and supplied as-is, with no waranty expressed or implied. However, feedback is welcome and we will correct any bugs found.

The Britfair format is used by the AVEVA Tribon and Vantage Marine Initial Design programs as a means of entering section data.

The GHS file format is a popular format for defining the hull form, especially in the US, and a description can be found at http://www.ghsport.com/support/APPEND-A.HTM.

The SHCP (Ship Hull Characteristics Program) file is also popular in the US, and XSection will read and write geometry section data contained in an SHCP file.

All file formats define the hull by sections at various stations along the vessel.

To install XSection do the following:

1. Download XSection by clicking on the above link and selecting Run or Save.
2. If Save was selected, choose a suitable temporary location to download to and press OK. When the download has finished, run the install program XSection_0_6.exe.
3. By default, XSection will be installed into the C:\Program Files\XSection folder and example data into a sub-folder called Examples. However, the user may change the program folder, if he/she wishes.
